You may have seen people with videos or photos on their Profile Page. Photos and Videos get the world's attention and when you want to get hired, they can be very helpful.
Your Crewplay Profile Page can show what you are capable of doing on-set. It's a little bit of real estate that you can use to promote and express yourself. Show Producers and Department Heads (such as Gaffers, DPs, Key Grips, Production Designer, etc) why you are the person they need on their next movie.
Below I'm going to walk through exactly how you can modify your Crewplay Profile Page.
1. Embedding Images
You can embed images on your Profile Page, in Discussions, Messages, Tags and other places.
The following photo was embedded using the code below:
Just replace the URL (the section that reads "http://www ... jpg") with the URL of the image you want to display. It can be from anywhere on the internet and it can even be a photo that's already in your photos section. Just paste the code and put it on your page.
2. Embedding Videos
You can also embed videos on your Profile Page... and in the Discussions section of the site. Below is a video.
Embedding videos can be a bit tricky if you aren't familiar with webpages. For those who are familiar with embedding Youtube videos, or any other video streams, you will find that you can just paste the embed tags into the body of your Bio or in the body of a Discussion as I've done here and it will simply appear whenever that page is loaded.
The actual embed tag will look something like this.
For Youtube videos, just copy all the code from the "Embed This Video" window on the Youtube page into your Bio or Discussion body. The new fangled Crewplay technology makes it that simple.
3. HTML Tags and Links
You can alter the text in a Discussion, Tag, Message... or in your Bio by putting <i> and </i> to make text italic or <b> and </b> to make it bold.
You can also embed links to other webpages by using standard HTML tags. I recommend getting familiar with the basics of HTML if you are going to start modifying Discussions and your Profile Page in strange ways. HTMLDog is a good site for learning the basics in a few minutes.
For those of you who know HTML already, you will recognize that this is the code to make a link <a href="http://www.crewplay.com">Crewplay</a>
4. Now You Try
Here is something that you can do. At the bottom of this and every Discussion page there is a window with some code. If you would like to link to a Discussion from your own Profile Page just paste the code at the bottom the Discussion into your Bio.
Try starting a Discussion about something important to you and linking to it from your Profile Page.
