I am a certified communications technician and a language interpreter, my primary responsibility is maintenance of the company's rental fleet of Two Way Radios, to install Interpretation Equipment, Wireless Intercom Systems & wifi Internet Access. This position is primarily responsible for local site support and maintenance as well as directly interfacing with clients, customers and users. (participating jurisdictions) The Communications Technician (1) responds to customer calls, service and status. The Communications Technician (2) is then responsible for taking the necessary action to resolve the problem and to notify the End User of the initial status and final outcome of the work performed. An incumbent in this classification is off-shift on-call technical support to respond to and resolve.

Two Way Radios can have multiple channels just like an AM or a FM radio can be tuned to different stations. The two-way radios we Rent & Sell might have anywhere from 1 to 16 or as many as 256 different channels. Each channel has a different frequency so people listening and talking on channel 1 wont hear people talking on channel 2 or one of the other channels. This is particularly important to our customers that want a group of employees to be able to talk to each other without interfering with other groups of employees. For example, on location production managers can use one channel, the crew can use a second channel and the coordinator can use a third channel without everyone hearing everything that is being transmitted.
